The Pack Feeder Program Details

The Pack Feeder Program

Purpose of the Pack Feeder Program

The goal of The Pack Feeder Program is to allow players who plan to attend Rocky Mountain High School the opportunity to play together and to develop the skills that will help them grow a love for the game of basketball.  Furthermore,  emphasis will be placed on teaching skills needed to play high school basketball.

The feeder program is NOT designed to be a "club" or "AAU" program.  The feeder program will try to be inclusive and to involve as many players as possible.  "Cuts" will not be made, but players will be divided into groups based on their basketball experience and skill level.  Players can play on a club or AAU team AND a feeder team.

Additional programs will be offered throughout the year including camps and clinics.

Two levels of involvement will be offered:

  • Level 1: Developmental level – Designed to help players with little or no competitive basketball experience develop fundamental skills.  Players participating at the developmental level will primarily focus  on individual skills and learning basketball concepts.  Drills will be designed to challenge players and optimize growth.  Players may also compete in 5v5 scrimmages or 3v3 games.

  • Level 2: Competitive level – Designed for players who have competitive basketball experience and who are capable of playing in a competitive basketball league or tournament.  Players participating at the competitive level should have a good understanding of basketball concepts like floor spacing, movement, man-to-man defensive concepts, and motion offense concepts.  At the individual level, competitive players should be able to dribble with both hands, have good shooting technique, good footwork, and good passing skills relative to other players at their age level.

  • At least 1 competitive team will be formed per age group based on skill level, attitude, game play and coachability of players.

  • Players participating in the feeder program MAY NOT be invited to play on a  level 2 competitive feeder team. Our goal is to place players in a position to be successful and to maximize growth while participating in the feeder program.  If a player is not invited to play on a level 2 competitive team, the goal will be to improve the player's skills and basketball knowledge so that he may be competitive enough to play on a competitive team in the future.

Costs To Participate

One of the goals of the feeder program is to offer reasonably priced programs.  Fees can vary based on expenses including league/tournament fees, court rental for practices, expenses for insurance, background check, and coach licenses, and other miscellaneous expenses.  The feeder program is led by dedicated volunteers.  None of our coaches or program administrators are paid, and many of them are parents.  Any fees that are paid cover the expenses of the program.  Stay tuned for additional details about the winter 2021-22 fees.

The cost to participate varies depending on what level a player is assigned into.  Players participating as a Level 2 - Competitive level player will pay a higher fee because of the competitive league/tournament fees.

All players who participate are required to purchase a reversible jersey.

Every effort will be made provide an opportunity for all players to participate regardless of their ability to pay the registration fee.  Families that demonstrate financial need can request a fee waiver.  That being said, we cannot guarantee that scholarships will be available for all players.
